Where the Sun Don't Shine

In honor of Phil, who (at my request) went in willingly for a colonoscopy last week. He received a clean bill of health.

One of the joys of getting older! Fun video!

My dad can sing this song verbatim. Between regular colonoscopies, he also has to see the prostate cancer dudes, so let's just say this song is bittersweet for him! :)
Good boy, Phil! I'm just a few years shy, myself.
Now then, Miss Pottymouth--have you had a mammo yet? Hmmmm????

I am just not ready for men my age to be having colonoscapy's. We just got out of high school, right?

Good for him though!

No, Elizabeth, I have not yet gone in for "The Big Squeeze." I'm still a few years shy of that lovely experience.

The only reason Phil went in at this point (he's considered "too young" for a colonoscopy) is because his dad died of colon cancer. Family history trumps standard medical timelines. And I've heard of one too many men being diagnosed with colon cancer in their 20s, so I asked Phil to go get it done. It's a mark of how much he loves me that he agreed.:-)

I haven't done the big squeeze either (love that term, may I use it??). But I have a friend who is a nurse who says now is the time to get one because they have a good reference picture. I don't know.

I HAVE done the big squeeze and it's not that bad, really. I think I will talk about it as my first blog though. There is one thing that I am curious about.

Did you ask Phil how the finger wave went??

Elizabeth--I heard the term "The Big Squeeze" from the Lo Down, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind you using it. It's a perfect description.

Pflower--Phil was supposed to be knocked out for the whole thing, but it didn't work. He said it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. The only kinda painful part was when the nurse pressed on his abdomen to help the doctor turn a corner (eww!). After a while, when Phil realized he wasn't going to sleep, he decided to watch on the TV screen. Apparently things were pretty bright in there. And after the colon prep he had to do, it was clean as a whistle. (Aaaah! TMI! TMI!)

The nurse that helped us after the procedure said that some people request pictures of their colon to use for their Christmas cards. Dees-guss-ting!
