My Little Romeo
I had S-- in the car the other day. I asked him about who he played with at school and what they were doing at recess. You know, the usual mom line of questioning. S-- tells me about playing with his best friend (a girl) and someone named Emily from her class. Then I heard a long sigh from the back seat and this comment:
"I really like her face."
Um...excuse me?
"You really like her face? Whose face?"
"Yeah...Emily. I really like her face." (another sigh)
"Oh? What is it you like about her face?"
"Well, she has these freckles...and I really like her eyes."
"Okay...what color are her eyes?"
"I don't know. But I like her eyes. She has these glasses that bend but don't break. And she has this kind of creaky voice."
"And you like her voice?"
"Yeah."
"And her freckles and glasses?"
"Yeah. I just really like her face."
Well I'll be. My son is a sucker for freckles and glasses that bend but don't break. And creaky voices.
This last Friday we happened to see Kacy's Maggie, who is in S--'s class, waiting in the school gym for SEP's. I decided to ask S-- about Maggie later.
"So do you ever play with Maggie?"
"Yeah. I like to play with Maggie. She likes to wiggle her eyebrows. It's kind of creepy."
"Creepy?"
"Yeah, but in a good way."
"Creepy in a good way?"
"Yeah. I really like it when she wiggles her eyebrows."
Amended list: S-- likes freckles, bendy glasses, creaky voices, and creepy eyebrows. Potential girlfriends take note.

He is too cute...how old is he? What is SEP? This is such an adorable conversation...you almost make me want to have a boy.
svward is also queenscarlett - forgot I didn't login correctly. ;-)
Creepy in a good way--it doesn't get better then that.
Your kids are awesome. I can't wait for my boys to start in with that...of course, that presupposes they'll start talking in coherent sentences someday.
*sigh*
They are both under 3...
Love it. And here's how baby hungry I am. I thought the new baby's name started with S, and that you literally had him in the car!!
That's really sweet.
QS: He's 8. And SEP stands for Student Educator Parent. We used to call them parent-teacher conferences.
Kacy: No kidding. I considered "creepy" to be the ultimate compliment coming from a boy.
Kengo: Thanks--I think they're pretty awesome myself. But you have to be careful what you wish for. When my oldest started talking in coherent sentences, it was to tell us how exactly we were doing everything wrong.
Elizabeth-W: Oh, don't wish a car labor on me just yet. I've still got a week and a half to go before this baby is due, and her name will start with J.
AzĂșcar: I thought so too.
Boys like creepy eyebrows? If only I'd known that a long time ago. I had the most monstrous, Martin-Landau eyebrows in the world. And I do have pictures. :)
I love hearing the conversations with your boys. I'll have to tell my girls that the bendy glasses are cool - I've been wanting them both to get them for a long time.
P.S. Don't tell me you've had a baby shower already and I wasn't invited?! (just kidding...sort of) A week and a half left? Awesome.
Boys are so great!
Hey, I've got a girl with bendy glasses and freckles. I'm sure someday she'll be happy to hear that there are boys our there that like these qualities.
WHere was he when I was in school?
ANd they say blogging is a waste of time. How precious is this, and so great that you documented it!
My 8 year old will be crushed that she is not dating potential for your son. :(
How does he feel about girls with big caterpillar-like eyebrows, no front teeth, and can do the splits?
