No more pencils, no more books....

Wanna see how I made it onto the "Coolest Mom" list today?

This is what I did to A-- before school this morning.

I must say it looks pretty awesome for an amateur do-it-yourself hairstylist like me. Of course, I had ulterior motives: I agreed to give him a mohawk for the last day of school if he'd let me buzz his hair for the summer.

His teacher wasn't pleased. She gave him a dirty look and made him comb it out before the final school assembly. So we redid it after school. I'm not sure which version I like better.....

Any votes, Sanjaya?

You are officially a great mom! I once let my son dye his hair bright blue for the summer. Now he's older and gone, I miss the days you're sharing with your children now.

You are a SUPER-cool mom, for sure!!! He looks like you. It cracks me up how genetics get played out.
I think your ulterior motive thing was very smart--I love buzzes on boys--I'd do it to myself except for all the looks I think I'd get.

Yes, that's cool. And that teacher needs to chill out with a nice something on the rocks.

You know what's funny? I was driving this afternoon with the windows down and the radio up loud and just for a minute I remembered. I felt like I was out of "school" for the summer, too.

It was a great feeling.

I vote the first one. It's wicked cool...although it's not so much a mohawk as an uberfauxhawk

Teacher Party Pooper! I like the Sanjaya version.

That was mean of that teacher to make him comb it out. I have wanted to give my boys mohawks but I never can let the hair grow long enough. The second it gets shaggy I have to cut it.

Jules - YOU ROCK!! This is the stuff great family relationships are made of...seriously. Now he can never say, "you don't love me" in any way, shape or form.

Speaking of shape or form, I vote hairstyle #1. It's a classic. But #2 is great for evening wear.

Julie, this is GREAT! And I agree, that teacher needs to take a chill pill.

Hooray for the last day of school!

Boy, does that kid look thrilled to be your son! I'm a fan of #2, but then again, I've got a picture of Sanjaya tattooed over my heart...

Hard to choose -- they each have their own flair.

But they're both better than Sanjaya's.
